4 Ingredient Beer Bread
Posted in : Bread, Recipes, Vegetarian Recipes on by : delamoo
With St Patty’s day coming up I thought I’d share my super easy beer bread recipe. This beer bread will taste best with beer that you like, it’s really a personal preference. In my opinion darker beers make a better bread, but if you drink light beer that works too! Or if you don’t like light beer but happen to have some that someone left after a social gathering (as I often do) you can “doctor it up” with 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, and 3/4 tsp Italian seasoning (but now we’re up to 7 ingredients). Likewise if you don’t have any beer you can fake this beer bread with cola! If you use cola skip the sugar (and now we are down to just 3 ingredients!!).
Ingredients:
- 3 cups self-raising flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 12oz beer
- 1/4 cup butter melted
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°f
Place self-rising flour and sugar in a large mixing bowl and stir to combine. *Note if you don’t have self-rising flour you can use regular flour + 1 Tbsp baking powder and 3/4 tsp salt.
Slowly pour in the beer. It will be really foamy.
Stir gently with a rubber spatula for just 20 strokes. (My grandma taught me that! Every time I make a sweet bread or muffins I count to 20.) Until just combined.
Now pour half of your melted butter into a loaf pan and brush the sides with butter.
Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and brush remaining butter on top.
Bake in the center of your preheated 375°f oven for 45 minutes.
Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool for about 15 minutes. Then remove from pan and continue to cool on wire rack. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
